Conclusion from December 2010 to January 2011 trip.

Since my return to the UK   I have had time to reflect upon what we saw and did in Kenya ,what needs to be done in the future and just how much longer I can carry the projects without   commercial or other sponsorship.

It is impossible to convey the need in Kenya as it is still subject to all the old ills; Malaria, TB,   HIV, Cholera, Typhoid and corruption at every level of society.

It is hard to cope with the theft of monies and goods etc by people who have and are receiving help, and the excuse that it is because of their poverty that they are forced to steal wears very thin after a while.

I understand the growing reluctance or apathy of people to help with projects in Kenya/Africa as they see African politicians living a life of luxury funded in the most part by International Aid given in good faith to help the poor and needy

I must also admit at times to have thought about packing it all in and walking away just concentrating on the need of my own family who put up and go without so much in order to help others.   Let someone else someone younger and healthier and financially better able to help take up the challenge.

But then I look at the children and see their smiles, faces covered in food and joyfully stuffing it into open mouths and filling empty stomachs and then I realise I just cannot leave them.    They are real human beings not a Facebook fantasy family, not something you can turn off and let it disappear into the ether.   I look at my wife and see that once again she has a small child on her lap and is chatting away, assuring it that whatever the problem is she will put it right and all will be OK again.

I know without doubt that I can never by choice walk away; I can only pray that one day the World will have a conscience and I will no longer be needed.

Until then I can only hope that we can find the strength and funds needed to continue.

We need sponsors for school fees and medical bills, a dream would be a larger donation that would allow the purchase of a plot of land and building so that instead of being at the mercy of landlords we could have a safe base.   One that instead of paying rent we could use the money to continually improve the conditions not just tread water In real terms it is not a huge amount as investment goes about the same price as a family car However any donation no matter how small makes a big difference.

Thank you
